Manchester-born Maher joined the Mariners last summer after the Club earned an immediate return to the EFL.

His switch from FC Halifax Town came after he made almost 150 league appearances for the Calderdale club across four seasons and, over the course of his first campaign with the Mariners, he became a regular presence in the starting XI.

After spending his youth with Bolton Wanders, he made his EFL debut while on loan with Blackpool in January 2015. He signed for Bury following his release from Bolton and spend the 2016-2017 season with the Shakers, making twenty-two league appearances for the Gigg Lane club.

Short spells with Galway United and AFC Telford United followed before he signed for Halifax and then, ahead of last season, he signed for Town.

Throughout his first campaign at Blundell Park, he made forty-four appearances in all competitions including starring in our run to the Emirates FA Cup Quarter-Finals.
