The Mariners’ Youth Team came from behind to beat Bradford City 3-1 in the Youth Alliance Cup at Cheapside on Saturday morning.
An entertaining and open contest saw both sides create plenty of chances, but it was Bradford who struck first midway through the opening half, turning a cross into the net to take the lead.
Town responded well and levelled before the break, with Darius Neagu finishing from a similar situation to make it 1-1 at half-time.
The Mariners raised the tempo after the restart and were rewarded with a second goal. A brilliant run from Harvey Booth saw him brought down inside the area, with Ted Sharp making no mistake from the penalty spot to put Town in front.
Bradford looked to respond, but the Mariners continued to threaten on the counter. Fortune Jack broke free and saw his effort come back off the post, with Max Horsman quickest to react as he followed up to turn the rebound home and make it 3-1.
Town saw out the remainder of the contest to secure a convincing victory and continue their Youth Alliance Cup campaign in style.
