We can confirm that this Saturday’s fixture against York City at Blundell Park will be our Remembrance Matchday.

As we mark our home fixture closest to Remembrance Day, we will come together to honour the service and sacrifice of members of the Armed Forces community, past and present.

Ahead of kick-off, the head coaches of both clubs will lay wreaths on the pitch before supporters, players and staff observe a two-minute silence, which will begin and end on the referee’s whistle.

The Last Post will be played by a bugler as we pay our respects to those who have served and those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Nine service personnel will be pitchside for the ceremony, including five veterans and four serving personnel representing all three branches of the Armed Forces. Eight of the group are from NEL4Heroes, a peer-to-peer support network dedicated to supporting veterans and serving members of the Armed Forces. They will be joined by our Women’s Head Coach, Ben Thomas, who serves in the Royal Air Force.

Players and coaches will wear black armbands as a mark of respect, while our matchday programme will feature special Remembrance content.

Poppies will also be available to purchase from the Club Shop.

We encourage supporters to take their seats earlier than usual to ensure they are ready to observe the Remembrance ceremony ahead of kick-off.
