We are pleased to share that St Andrew’s Hospice will be Saturday’s match sponsor for our Sky Bet League Two fixture against York City.
A series of special matchday activations will take place to raise awareness and funds for the Grimsby-based hospice, which provides specialist care and support for adults and children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.
Players will wear St Andrew’s Hospice T-shirts during their pre-match warm-up, while patients will take on special roles as flagbearers, welcoming both teams onto the pitch.
At half-time, patients will take part in a penalty shoot-out, with representatives from the hospice also presenting the Player of the Match award.
Hospice volunteers will also be around the ground before kick-off, collecting donations to support the charity’s vital work. Both cash and card donations will be accepted.
St Andrew’s Hospice costs more than £7 million to operate each year, with just 20% of its funding provided by the NHS. The hospice therefore relies heavily on the generosity of the local community to fund the remaining costs and continue delivering its essential services.
Grimsby Town goalkeeper coach Steve Croudson, a community ambassador for St Andrew’s Hospice, will have a personal connection to Saturday’s activities, having received invaluable support from the hospice when his mum, Lynn, passed away eight years ago.
We would like to thank Nigel Lowther for generously donating the match sponsorship package to St Andrew’s Hospice as part of his 60th birthday celebrations on Saturday.
