GTFC & Mariners Trust Collaborate To Create First Sensory Bag

Grimsby Town Football Club are delighted to have collaborated with the Mariners Trust to create our first sensory bag.

Blundell Park should be a place for all but we know that for some supporters it can be a place that presents some challenges that we want to help alleviate. With input from fans and Level Playing Field, we have created a sensory bag which we hope will mean attending games is possible for those with additional sensory requirements.

Bags will be made up specifically to suit the needs of the supporter requesting one.

Items can include:

  • Ear Defenders
  • Small Fidget Toy
  • Club/Trust Stickers
  • Ground Map noting facilities
  • Widget Communication Cards

Grimsby Town Sensory Bag

Debbie Cook, Club Chief Executive said: “We want Blundell Park to be a place where every Mariner feels they belong, where everyone feels accepted and connected. We are hugely grateful to the Mariners Trust for delivering this sensory bag which we hope will make match days and other situations easier for some of our supporters”.

Kristine Green, Trust Chair and Fan Elected Director added: “It’s been great to support the Club on such a brilliant initiative that looks to help make sure that matchdays are as worry and stress-free as possible for any fan that may need additional support. The bags can also be used in many other social situations which we hope will be of real help to families and a great use of Trust funds”

Application for a sensory bag is simple and allocated on a trust basis. From the experience and conversations we’ve had, professional diagnosis and allocation of DLA/PIP can be extremely difficult so we won’t be asking for any proof of those. Quite simply email [email protected] with details of the supporter that would require a bag (name, age etc), why you feel having a sensory bag would make attending matches at Blundell Park possible and what from the list above you would require.

Sensory bags are limited in number so please do only request one if there is a genuine need.

Alternatively, bags can be purchased from the club shop or online later next week.
