Grimsby Town Football Club are pleased to announce the signing of defender Jordan Cropper until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old joins as a free agent and has been training with the Mariners for the last week, impressing Mariners manager Paul Hurst and has been rewarded with a contract until the end of the 21/22 campaign.

Formerly of the Burnley Academy system, Cropper spent two separate loan spells at Chesterfield during the 2020/21 campaign, making a total of 12 appearances and scoring on two occasions.

Jordan will wear the number 32 shirt for the remainder of the season and will be eligible for this weekend’s visit of Dagenham & Redbridge.

Cropper spoke exclusively to GTTV this afternoon, after finally receiving confirmation of his registration.

“I’m delighted! I have been here a week now, i have really enjoyed it, the lads have been great and I am excited to finally get signed.

“I like to attack and get forward, up and down on the right-hand side. Training has been good, it’s been sharp. I have played quite a few games for Chesterfield so I know some of the teams and what the strengths are and I feel I know what the League is about so that gives me a bit of an advantage. With the squad, we have got and the depth, I don’t see why we shouldn’t be able to get the playoffs!

Manager Paul Hurst also spoke to GTTV this afternoon after training to speak about his latest acquisition.

“He is a player that has had an injury and is the reason why he has been in on trial. He hasn’t managed to secure something at other clubs but I am happy to have him on board.

“He has had loans at this level previously and has fitted in well. I like what I have seen, he is a young player that I am hoping has the hunger and desire to get back playing and he has integrated into the group well. We have signed him until the end of the season, but I think for both parties it gives us time to look at each other and see how we get on”.
