Grimsby Town Football Club is delighted to announce that Otis Khan has signed on a two-year deal.

The wide midfielder joins us from League Two rivals Leyton Orient, where he made 20 appearances, scoring once, during a six-month spell in East London. Prior to his move to Orient, Khan had spells with Walsall, Tranmere Rovers, Newport County, Mansfield Town and Yeovil Town, and has already amassed well-over 200 appearances in League Two during his career.

The Mancunian started out in the Manchester United academy before joining Sheffield United, where he made his professional debut. After his release from the Blades, the versatile midfielder had a season with Barnsley and then became a regular at Yeovil Town during a two-year spell.

The Mariners’ new wide man spoke to gtfc.co.uk shortly after signing for the Club.

“I’m happy to be here, I’m happy to get it over the line and I can’t wait to get started. There’s a real buzz about the Club, there are a lot of good players here and I’m looking forward to contributing where I can. I’m an attack-minded player who likes to get the ball, take players on and try and get goals and assists. I met the majority of the lads today and they all seem like great lads – everyone seems really nice. I can’t wait to get going properly now.”

Paul Hurst also gave his reaction to his new signing and revealed that the 26-year-old has been on his radar for a couple of years.

“Otis is very experienced at this level, and he’ll bring a bit of know-how to what is a relatively young squad. He’s played in quite a few positions over the years but part of the chat we had was about him joining us as a wide player – a position he feels is his best and that’s something I agree with him on. He had a spell at Tranmere playing at right back, which I have to say he did very well, but he’s coming here to be a creative player.

“He’s someone who impressed me a couple of years ago and I’ve kept a close eye on him since then. He’s a good character, a fit lad and someone who’ll fit right into our group and the way we work. I’m hoping he can have a good season, he experienced League Two last year through two different clubs, and he wants somewhere to call ‘home’ – hopefully that can be with Grimsby Town.”
