Grimsby Town Football Club are pleased to announce the signing of Ryley Towler from Bristol City on loan until 3rd January 2022, subject to League approval.
The nineteen-year-old joined the Academy system at The Robins at the age of seven and penned a new three-year contract in May this year. Towler made his professional debut for the club in the Emirates FA Cup Fifth Round away to Sheffield United in February 2021, going on to make a further three EFL Championship appearances in February 2021.
Speaking to gtfc.co.uk, Paul Hurst spoke of his delight at securing the services of Towler until the New Year. “He’s a young player who has come highly recommended by a number of people.
“The fact that he is a left-sided centre-back gives us another option at the heart of the defence, they are very hard to come by left-sided centre-backs! He has been brought in primarily as a centre-back to add to the options we currently have, we do have three but ideally, I wanted four so it allows you to adapt and change shape when needed. The fact that he can also play at left-back will also help us with options going forward.
“As I said, he has come highly recommended and the fact he has already played in their first team in the League shows that and he is a lad they believe can seriously go on and have a fantastic career there. But I am absolutely delighted to get him here and be able to provide further competition to what is looking like a strong squad”.
Welcome to Blundell Park, Ryley!
