5-2 – For The 20th Time

The weekend’s 5-2 win at home to Port Vale was the 20th such scoreline in Town’s history, but 7 of those have occurred this century!  The first two occurred just 3 weeks apart in 1893, but the feat was bettered in October 2011 when Town beat both Alfreton and then Barrow with the same score in 2011, with Liam Hearn scoring 4 in that first game and Anthony Elding scoring the others in both games!

Freshest in the minds will be the 5-2 game here versus Tranmere last season, when, like the Port Vale game, all five goals were scored by different players.

Note: Jordan Cook’s goal at the Osmond End was the first scored at that end this season!
