Grimsby Town will look to make it two Sky Bet League Two wins in a row as they face Bradford City at Blundell Park on Saturday (1pm).

Michael Jolley’s side picked up an opening-day 2-0 win away at Morecambe last weekend, thanks to second-half goals from Elliott Whitehouse and Max Wright.

And the Mariners will be hoping to carry some momentum from that win into their first home game of the season against Bradford City this weekend.

But Gary Bowyer’s side – who drew 0-0 at home to 10-man Cambridge United on the opening day – will be looking for their first win of the season as they face Town on Saturday.

Transfer business

There have been plenty of ins and outs at Valley Parade this summer, following the Bantams’ relegation from Sky Bet League One.

They’ve made some strong signings including Wigan Athletic striker James Vaughan, Clayton Donaldson from Bolton Wanderers, and Zeli Ismail from Walsall.

Sam Hornby, Ben Richards-Everton, Paudie O’Connor, Tyler French, Jackson Longridge, and Adam Henley all signed for the Bantams, while Matt Palmer joined on loan from Rotherham United.

They allowed 15 players to leave this summer, including former Town loanee Alex Jones, Josh Wright, Adam Chicksen, and Paul Caddis.

One to watch

Forward Eoin Doyle scored 11 goals in 48 appearances for the Bantams last season, despite their relegation from League One.

And the 31-year-old, who joined from Preston North End in summer 2018, will be hoping to get off the mark against Town at Blundell Park this weekend.

The former Cardiff City and Chesterfield striker will be hopeful of adding to his 93 career goals in 2019-20.

Bowyer went with a 4-3-1-2 formation as the Bantams drew 0-0 with Cambridge United on Saturday.

Goalkeeper Richard O’Donnell started, with a back four of Kelvin Mellor, Anthony O’Connor, Ben Richards-Everton, and Adam Henley in front of them.

Jermaine Anderson, Matt Palmer, and Jordan Gibson made up the midfield, with Eoin behind James Vaughan and Clayton Donaldson.

Last time we met

Town haven’t beaten Bradford City since 1998 – the Mariners have drawn three times and lost nine to the Bantams since then.

The last time we faced Bradford was in a goalless draw in League Two at Valley Parade in February 2010.
