Town began the New Year with a disappointing loss at home to Walsall and now face a managerless Notts County side with both teams looking to get back to winning ways.

New signings Harry Wood, Justin Obikwu and Doug Tharme put pen to paper to join the Mariners earlier and could feature.
Charles Vernam is also progressing well and is in contention to feature again after being on the bench in the last two games.
Notts County
These two sides last met back on the 12th August when the hosts County came away with all three points after a 3-2 win. Town took the lead when Danny Rose scored, but Notts County fired back five minutes before added time in the first half. The Mariners took the lead again just before half time, but Jones grabbed the equaliser and then Crowley scored for the hosts with 29 minutes to play which claimed the win for Notts County.
Notts County are currently being managed by Jim O’Brien, after previous boss Luke Williams left the club after 19 months at the start of the New Year to join Championship side Swansea City.
Notts County were promoted back to the Football League in May through the National League play-offs after a dramatic win against Chesterfield on penalties ending a four-year absence from the football league. Prior to their relegation to the National League in 2019, Notts County had never stepped foot in any league below the fourth tier of English football before and instead were one of the founding members of the entire Football League system.
Saturday’s visitors are out of all three trophy competitions after losing to Lincoln City in the League Cup, Shrewsbury in the FA Cup and finishing bottom in their group in the EFL Trophy having lost every game. Despite this, County have recorded a so far successful league campaign sitting 6th in Sky Bet League Two, six points off Wrexham and Mansfield for the automatic promotion places.

The Magpies come into this game having won two of their last five league outings including a 4-2 away loss to Tranmere Rovers last time out.
Despite Tranmere taking the lead early on, Notts County found themselves 2-1 up in the 29th minute through Langstaff but Tranmere managed to level the game up on the stroke of half time. The hosts thrived in the second half with Saunders and Jennings both scoring to send County home with a loss.
Saturday’s visitors have failed to find form away from home having only picked up three away wins in all competitions from 14 attempts. Their last away win came in mid-October after winning 2-1 at Gillingham.
Macaulay Langstaff is the current top goal scorer at Notts County having scored 20 goals in all competitions so far this season, Langstaff hitting form in 23/24 like he did in 22/23 having scored 41 goals in the National League last term.
