We are pleased to announce the appointment of Ben Thomas as our Women’s First Team Assistant Coach.
Ben comes into the set-up to add capacity and experience to our Women’s First Team which will include assisting with the planning and delivering of training sessions, providing tactical insight and playing an important role alongside Head Coach Ben Challen on a match day.
Ben’s experience has seen him most recently assist Lincoln United Women’s manager in tier four of the women’s game, as well as a previous role as the Lincoln City u23s manager.
He was also First Team coach for the RAF Ladies and led them to the Inter Services Cup in both 2021 and 2022.
On taking on the role as Assistant Coach, Thomas said, “It’s great to be on board with the Women’s Team and working alongside Ben.”
“The Club has a great feel about it and want to push the Women’s Team in the right direction.
“The support the Club gives to the Women’s Team is amazing and as we hopefully progress up the pyramid, we can really showcase what the Club is about within the women’s game.
“I have high standards that align with Ben’s, and I will be asking a lot of the girls, but I’m confident they have the application and ability to meet them.
“I’m looking forward to the rest of the season and working with Ben to push this team as far as we can for the foreseeable future.”
On the appointment of Thomas, Head Coach Ben Challen said, “It’s great to bring Ben on board. His expertise and experience in the women’s game will be a huge asset as we look to develop and improve the players we have, alongside his contacts that will help us in bringing new players through the door.”
We’d like to say a massive thank you to Brian Noble who took on the assistant role back in June. Brian will continue to do his fantastic work within the Academy.
Welcome onboard, Ben!
