Our Youth Team returned to League action on Friday as they travelled to Bradford Park Avenue to face Bradford City in a goalless contest in the Northern Youth Alliance League.
Neither side could find the back of the net in a result that saw Neil Woods’ side get their fourth draw in five league games.
Bradford had the front foot in the first-half, keeping Seb Auton on his toes in between the sticks for the Mariners, but the 17-year-old kept his goal tidy and limited the Bantams to only long-range efforts.
At the other end, Town didn’t create too many clear-cut chances, with two Grayson Giles chances being the closest the visitors came to finding an opening before the break.
Neil Woods’ side dominated in the second-half and had several chances to give themselves the upper hand.
Giles frustratingly hit the bar, while Harvey Cribb saw his header clawed back off the line, despite appeals it had crossed the goal line.
The Mariners had the perfect chance to seal the three points, when Charlie Clements was brought down in the area.
Giles stepped up, but his spot kicked was saved by the Bradford shot-stopper and both sides left the tie with a point.
