We are proud to announce that Grimsby Town Football Club generated over £4 million of Social Value during the 2023-24 season through the work of the Grimsby Town Foundation.
The figure, which comes from the EFL Measuring the Impact of Clubs in the Community interim report, is based on the economic, social and environmental contributions made by the Club’s official charity, during the whole of last season.
In total, £4,109,930 of social value is estimated to have been delivered to people across our community, in the following areas.
Mental Health: £1,804,340
Social: £1,491,764
Education & Employability: £511,126
Physical Health: £302,700
Last season, the Foundation launched the area’s first ever Girls’ Emerging Talent Centre to help develop talented female footballers. Premier League Primary Stars programmes continued to be delivered in many local primary schools, supporting hundreds of children to develop their numeracy and literacy skills. Our ‘Warm Space’ and ‘HAF’ (Holiday activity and food) programmes provided a welcoming and safe space for people in our community and over 2,000 youngsters took part in our holiday football courses.
Reacting to the news, Mike Thompson, Community Director of Grimsby Town Foundation said, “I’m delighted with the amount of social value the Foundation managed to deliver in 2023-24. The Foundation has a long history of delivering projects and interventions which positively the community, so it’s great that we can put a figure on all of the brilliant work we have been doing as an organisation.”
“That hard work is continuing in 2024-25 and hopefully, when the next figures are announced in 12 months time, we’ll be able to see that we’ve been able to deliver even more social value this season!”
Polly Bancroft, Chief Executive of Grimsby Town FC added, “Grimsby Town Football Club is the right at the heart of the local community – not just physically because of the location of Blundell Park, but also because of the work of the Grimsby Town Foundation.”
“Reports like this one from the EFL, help us measure the impact of the initiatives, projects, courses and education delivered by our Foundation every day. I’d like to say a well done to everyone who contributed in 2023-24 and continues to do so this season.”
