Grimsby Town Expands Popular Memories Group to Support More Local People

For almost eight years, the Mariners Trust and the Grimsby Town Foundation have proudly hosted a much-loved Memories Group here at Blundell Park.

Designed for people experiencing memory problems or living with dementia, and for those who simply enjoy good company, it has become a warm, welcoming space where friendships are formed, stories are shared, and smiles are plenty.

Each session offers the chance to reminisce not only about Grimsby Town and football, but about anything that sparks joy and conversation. From music and childhood memories to fun quizzes and themed activities, the group aims to bring people together through the comfort of familiar moments.

Over the years, we have welcomed special guests including former Town player Dave Worthington and Men’s First Team Manager David Artell, while members have also enjoyed days out to places like the National Football Museum in Manchester and a fish and chip lunch in McMenemy’s.

The group’s popularity has grown so much that we have sadly had to turn people away due to limited space. To make sure more people can benefit, we are pleased to announce that we are expanding the Memories Group to include an additional monthly session.

If you or someone you know would enjoy and benefit from joining, we would love to hear from you. Please contact Kristine Green at kristine@gtfc.co.uk for more details.

The Memories Group is delivered in partnership with Friendship at Home, a fantastic local charity dedicated to supporting elderly and isolated individuals in our community. To learn more about their work, visit www.friendshipathome.org.uk.
