We are delighted to confirm the signing of Andy Cook, who joins the Mariners on loan for the remainder of the 2025/26 season from Bradford City.
The experienced forward returns to Blundell Park with significant goalscoring pedigree and a wealth of Football League and non-league experience, adding proven quality and competition to David Artell’s attacking options.
A familiar face to Mariners supporters, Cook previously represented Town during the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons, where he established himself as a regular in the first team and scored 22 goals in all competitions. He also featured in the FA Trophy Final at Wembley, netting to give us the lead before the match was decided on penalties.
Since departing Town, Cook has enjoyed a prolific career, most notably with Barrow, Tranmere Rovers and Bradford City. His time at Tranmere saw him score 51 goals in 97 appearances, culminating in promotion to the Football League via the National League play-offs in 2018 and earning him the division’s Golden Boot.
Cook began his professional career with Carlisle United before establishing himself at Barrow, where his consistent goal return earned moves to Tranmere Rovers and later Walsall. During his time at Tranmere, Cook played a key role in their promotion success via the National League play-offs in 2018.
After spells with Mansfield Town and a loan move to Bradford City in 2021, Cook made the switch permanent and has since become a senior figure at Valley Parade. Across his career, he has made over 680 senior appearances, scoring more than 250 goals, and is currently Bradford City’s fourth all-time leading goalscorer.
“Andy is a player with a proven goalscoring pedigree and a real understanding of what it means to play for this football club,” said Head Coach David Artell. “He brings experience, physical presence and a mentality that will add real value to the group, both on and off the pitch. He’s worked incredibly hard to come back from injury, he’s hungry to make an impact, and we believe he’ll be a strong addition to our attacking options for the remainder of the season.”
Andy will link up with the squad immediately as the Mariners look to build on recent momentum and push forward during the second half of the season.
Welcome back to Blundell Park, Andy.
