Youth Team continue unbeaten start to 2026 with victory over Chesterfield

The Mariner’s Youth Team hosted Chesterfield at Bradley FDC earlier this morning in their third game in seven days, running out comfortable 4-1 winners thanks to goals from Alex Graham, Elliot Smith, Carlo Midwinter and Henry Brown.

Town controlled the game for large parts and opened the scoring when Josh Edward’s ball was plucked out the air by young forward Elliot Smith and played into the path of Alex Graham, who finished from close range to put Town 1-0 up.

Town doubled their lead shortly after when Charlie Hatton’s free kick was flicked home by the arriving Smith just before the break to place Town firmly into the driving seat.

Town began the second half in the same manner as the first, when Mamudu Jalloh’s shot was saved by the keeper but only as far as Carlo Midwinter, who poked home to add a third.

Town added a well-deserved fourth when fantastic solo work from Henry Brown saw him net his third goal in two games as he continues his progress back to full fitness.

The visitors did grab a consolation goal in the dying moments with a long-range effort, but it was in vain, with Town continuing their unbeaten start to 2026.

Next up for Town is Bradford at home next weekend.
