Mariners Secure Maldini Kacurri on Permanent Deal

We are delighted to confirm the signing of Maldini Kacurri, who joins the Mariners on an 18-month deal for an undisclosed fee, with an option to extend for a further year.

The 20-year-old centre-back arrives from Arsenal, where he progressed rapidly through the club’s academy and into senior contention. Born in Lewisham and eligible to represent Albania through his family, Maldini has already featured for his country at youth level and made his senior international debut in 2025 – a reflection of his continued development and potential.

Standing at 6ft 2”, Kacurri brings a strong physical presence to Town’s defensive unit. Known for his aerial dominance, front-foot defending and willingness to put his body on the line, Maldini has already built a reputation as a combative and committed centre-half despite his young age.

After signing his first professional contract with Arsenal in July 2024, Maldini made his senior debut for the Gunners in the EFL Cup and went on to gain valuable first-team experience during loan spells with Bromley and Morecambe.

His time at Morecambe in particular proved highly productive, earning him consecutive Player of the Month awards and over 2,000 minutes of senior football, placing him among the top-performing Under-21 centre-backs in the country. Maldini arrives ready to compete for a first-team place while continuing his development in a demanding senior environment.

Head Coach, David Artell, said: “Maldini is a physically strong, commanding centre-back who will add real presence and resilience to our defence. He brings aggression, aerial dominance, and the ability to compete at a high level, which is exactly what we need to strengthen the backline. Beyond his defensive qualities, he’s a young player with huge potential, and we’re excited about the energy, attitude, and determination he will bring to the squad both on and off the pitch.”

Everyone at the Club welcomes Maldini to Blundell Park and we look forward to seeing him in black and white. He will wear the number two shirt for Town.

Maldini is proudly sponsored by Starlight Hideaway for the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign.
