Mariners Trigger One-Year Extension for Cameron McJannet

We are delighted to confirm that we have exercised the option to extend Cameron McJannet’s contract by a year, keeping the defender at Blundell Park until the Summer of 2027.

Since arriving from Derry City in June 2024, McJannet has developed into a key figure within the squad. The left-sided defender made 45 appearances in his debut campaign, scoring twice, and has continued that consistency this season with 37 outings across all competitions and more than 3,100 minutes of action. His contributions include 28 appearances in Sky Bet League Two, alongside involvement in the FA Cup, EFL Cup and EFL Trophy, where he has added a goal and several assists to his name.

Known for his aerial presence, composure on the ball and strong game awareness, McJannet has firmly established himself as an important part of the Mariners’ back line while also posing a threat going forward.

Head Coach David Artell said, “We’re really pleased to secure Cameron’s services for another year. Since he arrived, he’s shown real consistency and a desire to improve, and we’ve seen positive development in his game during that time. He’s got strong attributes as a defender and has become an important part of the group, but he’s also someone who knows there is plenty more to learn.

“He’s eager to keep progressing, and that attitude is exactly what we want. We believe there’s even more to come from Cameron, and we’re looking forward to continuing that work together as we build for the future.”
