The Mariners Trust is calling on local LGBTQ+ fans, individuals and community groups to help shape the future of inclusion at Grimsby Town.
As part of ongoing work to ensure Blundell Park is a welcoming and safe environment for everyone, the Trust is looking to open meaningful conversations with LGBTQ+ supporters and allies about how the matchday experience, and wider club culture, can continue to evolve.
Building an LGBTQ+ Supporters Group
A key ambition from these discussions is the potential formation of an official LGBTQ+ supporters group affiliated with Grimsby Town.
If established, this would aim to become the only current LGBTQ+ supporters group connected to a professional football club in Lincolnshire – providing a visible, supportive network for fans and helping to strengthen the club’s commitment to equality and representation.
The group would:
- Provide a safe and welcoming space for LGBTQ+ Mariners
- Offer a platform for open dialogue with the Club and Trust
- Contribute ideas to improve inclusivity on matchdays
- Help celebrate diversity within the Grimsby Town fanbase
A Collaborative Approach
The Mariners Trust is keen to listen first. Before any formal structure is created, the priority is to hear directly from LGBTQ+ supporters and local organisations about what they would like to see, what barriers may exist, and how the Club can continue improving.
This engagement aligns with the Club’s wider work through national campaigns such as Football v Homophobia and the EFL’s Rainbow Ball initiative, reinforcing the message that football is for everyone.
Get Involved
Any LGBTQ+ supporters, allies, or local groups who would be interested in being part of an initial conversation are encouraged to come forward. Whether you are a regular matchgoing fan, a casual supporter, or someone who has previously felt unsure about attending, your voice matters.
Fans can now express interest by emailing the Mariners Trust here.
Together, we can continue building a club and community where everyone feels they belong.
