What is Great Grimsby Day?

Great Grimsby Day is celebrated on 11th March each year and commemorates a key moment in the town’s history.

On this day in 1201, King John and his royal entourage witnessed the sealing of Grimsby’s first Royal Charter, granting the town important rights and privileges. At the time, Grimsby was one of only seven places in England to receive such a document, allowing it to govern itself and set its own taxes.

Remarkably, this historic moment came 14 years before the signing of the Magna Carta, one of the most significant documents in British history.

So whether you’re shopping online or visiting us in-store, join us in celebrating Great Grimsby Day and show your support for the Mariners.
