Vacancy: Matchday Doctor

Grimsby Town Football Club is seeking to appoint a Matchday Doctor to provide medical cover for our Men’s First Team home fixtures at Blundell Park.

Working alongside the Club’s full-time medical staff, the successful candidate will help ensure the highest standards of emergency care and clinical support are delivered on matchdays.

This casual role will involve assisting with the diagnosis and treatment of injuries, maintaining accurate and confidential medical records, managing imaging referrals and prescribing medication where required.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing emergency matchday medical cover for players and associated staff during Men’s First Team home fixtures
  • Assisting with the diagnosis and treatment of injuries
  • Developing a close working relationship with the Club’s full-time medical team
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential medical and injury records for contracted players
  • Acting as the named clinician for player referrals requiring imaging
  • Prescribing medication when required
  • Carrying out duties in accordance with all relevant Club policies and procedures
  • Representing the core values and brand identity of Grimsby Town Football Club

About The Candidate

Applicants should demonstrate the following experience and qualifications:

  • Registered and licensed to practice by the GMC
  • Advanced Emergency Aid Qualification (ATMMiF preferred)
  • Appropriate medical indemnity to treat and advise players
  • Demonstrable experience in professional team sport medicine (preferably within football)
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • A flexible approach to work, as the role requires weekend and evening availability

  • Contract Type: Casual / Sessional
  • Hours: Cover for Men’s First Team home fixtures (evenings and weekends as required)
  • Salary: Dependent on experience
  • Closing Date: 10th April 2026

This role will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check and requires a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
