Saturday’s fixture against Crewe Alexandra proved to be a memorable and impactful occasion, as supporters came together to back the Grimsby Town Foundation in a special fundraising matchday at Blundell Park.
With the focus on supporting the club’s charitable arm, the day showcased the incredible connection between the Mariners and the local community and fans responded in fantastic fashion, helping to raise an outstanding £3,500 for the Foundation’s work.

A Community Effort
From the moment supporters arrived at the ground, there were opportunities to get involved and contribute. Programme sellers, bucket collectors and QR code donation points around the stadium all played their part, while fans also supported through ticket contributions and generous donations from both the men’s and women’s first-team players and staff.
A popular Keepy Uppy Challenge outside the Ramsden’s Family Stand added to the matchday atmosphere, with supporters testing their skills for a chance to win a signed home shirt, while also raising valuable funds.

Showcasing the Foundation
The Foundation’s work was on full display throughout the day, highlighting the wide-reaching impact it has across North East Lincolnshire.
At half-time, participants from the April Half-Term courses took to the pitch for a 5v5 fixture, giving them the opportunity to play at Blundell Park and demonstrate their skills in front of the crowd. Meanwhile, young people from the Foundation proudly walked out alongside the teams as flag bearers – a moment they will not forget.
These experiences offered a powerful reminder of how the Foundation uses football to inspire, develop confidence and create opportunities for young people.

Making A Difference
Every donation made on the day will directly support programmes that reach thousands of people each year. From Premier League Kicks and Primary Stars to disability football, holiday camps and youth development initiatives, the Foundation continues to provide inclusive opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds.
Recent work in the community has included delivering more than 1,500 books to local schools as part of World Book Day, hosting successful half-term football courses, expanding Premier League Kicks provision, and launching new partnerships to create safe spaces for young people to engage in sport.
The Foundation’s impact goes far beyond the pitch, helping individuals build confidence, develop life skills and feel part of a supportive community.
