Grimsby Town manager Michael Jolley believes his side worked hard to earn their point in the 0-0 Sky Bet League Two draw with Bury at Blundell Park.
The Mariners produced a good defensive performance as they held the Shakers, who sit second-place in the league, to a goalless draw.
And second-half substitutes Ahkeem Rose and Charles Vernam came close to grabbing late goals for the Mariners at Blundell Park.
And Town boss Jolley was pleased with his side’s display as they moved up to 15th in the league.
Speaking on iFollow Mariners, he said: “Bury are a good side. They pose a clear threat, and there was a big defensive responsibility on us today.
“But I thought the players delivered that really well, and I can’t remember too many clear chances for Bury.
“There were one or two moments as the game wore on, but overall I think we reduced them to not too many clear chances.
“And as the game opened up, there were chances for us to counter-attack and play into the spaces – certainly in the last 20 minutes.
“And it was just a shame we couldn’t make more of some of the chances that we had.
“Overall I think it was a performance we can be quite pleased with.
“I’m pleased with the overall effort of the players today – I thought they really put a lot into the game, and deserved the clean sheet and deserved the point.
“There were close shaves in the game but, of course, we wanted to win it and score a goal, but I think if you can’t do that then a point and another clean sheet is a good result.
“I thought it was quite an end-to-end game today and either side could have won it, but probably in the end a draw was a fair result.”
And Jolley also confirmed that on-loan Sunderland midfielder Elliot Embleton could be out for a number of weeks, after picking up a suspected hamstring injury whilst representing England U20s.
He said: “We think it’s a hamstring injury unfortunately, so there’s going to be a scan on that, and that will tell us how long it’s going to be for.
“But obviously there’s only about six weeks left in the season, so that’s a big disappointment to us because he’s such an important player for us.
“It’s never good to speculate about these things, but hamstring injuries are usually between three and six weeks.
“So best case scenario he does come back and play some games for us, but worst case is that he doesn’t come back.”
Jordan Cook came off with a slight groin problem, while Alex Whitmore and Harry Cardwell will be out for a couple of weeks each with slight knocks.
