Grimsby Town striker Harry Cardwell hopes “the good times can continue” at Blundell Park, after extending his contract until summer 2020.
The 22-year-old, who has scored one Sky Bet League Two goal for the Mariners since joining in 2017, extended his current deal until the end of the 2019-20 season yesterday.
And Cardwell hopes to make more good memories during his next 18 months at the club.
Speaking exclusively on iFollow Mariners, he said: “I’m delighted. I’m really happy to get it sorted, and finalise the deal, and I’m really happy to be here.
“I’m really enjoying my time here – especially with the lads we’ve got at the minute, and the gaffer.
“There’s a great feel around the place – the lads are all in high spirits, and we’re really looking forward to the weekend.
“It’s been a good couple of weeks for the lads – four wins out of the last five, there’s a really good buzz around the place, and there’s a lot of positive energy.
“And hopefully the good times can continue here, and we can continue to get up the table and keep picking up points.”
And Cardwell sees no reason why Town can’t cause a historic upset as they face Premier League side Crystal Palace in the Emirates FA Cup third round at Selhurst Park on Saturday (5.30pm).
He said: “It’s a good experience for some of the lads who have never played at a Premier League club, or anything like that, and we’re really looking forward to it.
“I’m really looking forward to it. It’s one of those occasions and games that you look forward to in your career where you’re classed as the underdog, but there’s no pressure going into the game.
“And who knows – why can’t we cause an upset? We’ve got the players here, and the squad, and the feeling around the place is good.
“So we can go into it with a lot of confidence and, after the successful festive period that we’ve had, why not?”
The Mariners will be backed by more than 5,500 travelling Town fans from the black and white army in the Arthur Wait Stand on Saturday!
