We are proud to unveil our new 2026/27 Away Kit – a modern recreation of one of the most iconic shirts in the Club’s recent history.
Inspired by the memorable light blue Lotto shirt worn by the Mariners during the 1996/97 season, the design pays tribute to a classic from 30 years ago while celebrating an unexpected connection between Grimsby and Italy.
A Shirt Steeped in History
Produced once again by our returning technical partner LOTTO, the shirt faithfully reimagines one of the Club’s most recognisable away strips from the 1990s.
Supporters with long memories will instantly recognise the design, but what many may not realise is that this wasn’t just a Grimsby Town shirt.
During the mid-1990s, Italian footballing giants AC Milan wore an almost identical LOTTO template, with legendary names including Roberto Baggio, George Weah, Patrick Vieira and Paolo Maldini all wearing the same distinctive design.
Three decades later, that famous template returns to Blundell Park.
Grimsby. Italy. More Connected Than You Think.
While the shirt itself is inspired by the past, this season’s launch campaign also celebrates the surprising links between Grimsby and Italy.
From the Italian heritage of LOTTO itself to the architecture that helped shape one of our town’s most famous landmarks, the connections are remarkable.
The iconic Grimsby Dock Tower, standing proudly over the docks since 1852, was inspired by Siena’s Torre del Mangia, one of Italy’s most recognisable medieval towers.
Football has also provided its own Italian link, most recently through defender Maldini Kacurri, whose first name pays tribute to legendary AC Milan captain Paolo Maldini. And then there’s perhaps the most unexpected connection of all…
Following the decline of the fishing industry, Grimsby became one of Europe’s leading food manufacturing centres in the 90s and the town famously produced more pizzas than anywhere else in Europe, including Italy.
These unique connections form the inspiration behind our launch campaign, celebrating the shared heritage between our town and one of football’s great nations.
The Details
The shirt stays true to the much-loved original while incorporating modern finishing touches.
On the reverse of the collar sits the word “Mariners”, accompanied by subtle detailing in the colours of the Italian flag, a nod to both LOTTO’s heritage and the inspiration behind this season’s campaign.
Combining nostalgia with contemporary performance technology, the 2026/27 Away Kit has been designed for both players and supporters alike.

Whether you remember wearing the original shirt 30 years ago or are discovering it for the first time, this is more than just a remake.
