A summary of the EFL Week of Action at Grimsby Town

This week at Grimsby Town, we’ve been proud to celebrate the EFL’s Week of Action, recognising the collective impact of Football Club charities and their community work across England and Wales.

The Week of Action shines a light on the most innovative and inspiring projects taking place across the Football League, providing players and staff with the chance to meet participants and hear first-hand how these initiatives are improving lives within their communities.

Take a look at what we’ve been up to this week:

Our Men’s First Team Head Coach David Artell kicked off the week by swapping the touchline for the classroom, dropping by a session delivered by the Grimsby Town Foundation in collaboration with ‘Run With It’, helping young children from Healing Academy with practical Maths and English lessons, hosted at Blundell Park.

David was also on hand at John Whitgift Academy to officially re-open their swimming pool after a £2.5 million pound renovation. The pool had been closed for three and a half years, and our Head Coach was on hand to cut the ribbon and speak to a number of excited students about the prospect of regaining a vital community hub and a fantastic facility at their Academy.

Elsewhere, our CEO, Polly Bancroft attended the Grimsby Town Foundation’s Premier League Kicks Girls-only session, in partnership with YMCA (Our Zone). Our CEO delivered an inspiring speech, giving the girls a first-hand insight into her career in sport and the pathway that led her to gaining a role as CEO at a professional football club.

Assistant Head Coach Shaun Pearson and Goalkeeping Coach Steve Croudson were both on hand on Wednesday as they popped down to the ‘Memories Group’ hosted at Blundell Park to reminisce about all things Grimsby Town with our more senior supporters, offer an insight into the professional game and come together – making for a heartwarming afternoon of shared stories and smiles across generations.

We also saw Men’s First Team players Cameron Gardner and Kieran Green show their support at a Foundation ‘Premier League Kicks’ session at Centre4 Community Centre in Nunsthorpe, getting themselves involved in the training sessions and meeting the younger supporters.

The EFL Week of Action once again highlights the vital role that Clubs and their Foundations play at the heart of their communities, supporting people’s health, happiness, education, and sense of belonging every single day.
