Action & Reaction – Macclesfield

Caretaker boss Anthony Limbrick thought that his side had enough chances to win the game, but he was pleased to see his side fight back for a point and he was delighted to see Charles Vernon capping another great performance with a goal.

“I thought that the pitch made it difficult for both teams,” Limbrick said. “When we said that the pitch was bad we didn’t realise as it was. The pitch was one of the worst at this level that I have ever seen.”

And enthusing about Vernon, he said: “He was great against Scunthorpe the other day and I thought he was our best player this afternoon. I was really pleased for him to get his goal. He took it really well and a lot of our good play came through him.”

He continued: “There was someone supporting him to his right. I think it was Max Wright. But he went himself and he’s nice and confident at the moment.

“Hopefully that can kick-start his season and he can get more goals at this level.

“Charles is a very good player technically. We have given him a lot of freedom up there to play, move and roam where he needs to go.

“He’s certainly paying us back with his performances and I’m really pleased for him.”

“It was a poor start from us in the second half and it left us chasing the game. We came back and got the goal, but we should be winning games like that.

“I thought the pitch made it difficult for both teams. We knew it was bad, but we didn’t know it was going to be as bad as it was.”
