Altrincham Travel Guide – Everything You Need!

Mariners SLO Kristine Green answers all your questions ahead of our trip to Altrincham on Tuesday 5th October

What colour kit will the team be wearing?

Blue kit for this one. 

What’s the ticket information?

Fans are located in the open Hale End terrace – entry is via gate 6/7.

The small allocation of seats given are undercover.

What time will turnstiles open?

Turnstiles open at 6:45pm 

How do I get to the ground?

WA15 8AP is the postcode for the ground.

At junction 18 of the M62 the motorway changes its name to the M60. After passing Birch Service Station get into the inside lane.

Follow the sign which reads M60 (East and South), Manchester and Airport. Follow the left filter lane to join the M60 motorway travelling in a clockwise direction. Continue to follow signs for Manchester Airport and at junction 3 of the M60 get into the inside two lanes and leave the M60 to join the M56.

At junction 2 of the M56 do not follow the Altrincham sign but remain on the M56 following signs for the Airport. Do not leave the M56 at Manchester Airport but continue until junction 6. Leave the M56 at junction 6 signposted A538 Wilmslow, Hale, Macclesfield. At the end of the slip road turn left at the traffic lights signposted Hale, Altrincham A538.

Go straight across at the next roundabout. After approximately 2 miles approach a set of traffic lights – carry straight on and take the third turning on the right into Westminster Road. Carry straight on for approximately 3/4 mile into Moss Lane, the football ground is on the right.

Where is the best place to park?

It’s on-street parking but please look out for yellow lines or traffic cones prohibiting parking in that area.

What is the nearest train station to the stadium and what is the approximate distance and walking time?

Altrincham is served by the Metrolink tram system from Manchester City Centre, Manchester Piccadilly and Victoria stations.

This is within Altrincham Interchange which is half a mile/12-minute walk away.  Buses from Piccadilly also stop in this Interchange.

Recommended pubs for away fans?

Opposite the ground is a Community Sports Hall with a bar inside that also sells pies, chips etc.

The Station Hotel (opposite the station….) is one recommended for away fans.

A short walk along Moss Lane you have the King George Pub. 15 minutes walk into the town centre gives you lots of options too including Life of Pi and Costellos at Goose Green. You also have the Cheshire Tap on Railway Street and a ‘spoons called the Unicorn on Ashley Road.

Is food available in the area?

Directly opposite the ground is a chippy called ‘The Good Catch’. They served traditional fish and chips (yes haddock is on the menu) as well as salt and pepper squid and other regular menu items. Along the same block is a Cantonese takeaway and a couple of convenience stores.

The town centre is around 15 minutes’ walk away where you’ll find Nando’s and other large chain restaurants.

Where is the nearest cash machine to the Stadium?

Nearest cash machine at the Premier Store opposite the ground. This may charge for withdrawals

What food and drink is available at the stadium?

No alcohol is available in the ground.

The kiosk serves pies, chips and hot/cold drinks.

Programmes are available at a cost of £3.00

What is the flag policy/drum policy?

The stadium has a no drum policy.

Flags are allowed as long as they don’t cover pitch-side advertising. Please follow stewards instructions as necessary
