Amaluzor: “I’m Trusting the Process and Ready to Make My Impact”

Justin Amaluzor says he is “trusting the process” and staying ready to make an impact as the Mariners continue their push towards the end of the season.

The forward impressed with a lively cameo in Tuesday night’s victory over Fleetwood Town and is determined to build on that momentum heading into Saturday’s clash with Barrow.

Here’s everything he had to say ahead of the weekend…

On his impact from the bench:

Amaluzor was pleased to play his part in helping the team secure all three points.

“It’s definitely good to get on the pitch and help the team get the victory,” he said.

“I feel like when you’re on the bench, you have a job to change the game and that was my mindset.

“When I came on, I just tried to make an impact and help us get the win, which we did in the end.”

On going close to a goal:

The winger came within inches of marking his performance with a goal, only to see his effort strike the post.

“I did think it was in,” he admitted. “It would have been my third late winner!

“When Cooky headed it, it was just reaction time and it came off my head, but unfortunately it hit the post.”

On fine margins in the box:

Amaluzor highlighted the importance of sharp reactions in key moments.

“It’s all about fine margins,” he explained.

“When you’re in the box, chances can drop at any time, so you’ve got to be ready and on your toes.”

On patience and mentality:

Despite limited starts, the 23-year-old has remained focused and committed to the team.

“It’s been tough because you want to play every game,” he said.

“But it’s a team game and I’m a patient person. I practice my patience and if the team’s doing well, that’s what matters most.”

On trusting the process:

Amaluzor believes his development is benefitting from the challenge.

“You’ve got to trust the process,” he said.

“If you think you’re not learning, that’s when you become stagnant.

“This period is helping my development and I’m learning all the time.”

On development and growth:

The forward admitted this is a new experience in his career but one he is embracing.

“I haven’t really been on the bench this much before,” he said.

“It’s different for me, but I’m learning and it’s helping me improve as a player.”

On Blundell Park form:

With Town now unbeaten in nine at home, Amaluzor credited the supporters for creating a difficult environment for opponents.

“When the fans are loud, especially if we start fast, it’s a difficult place to come,” he said.

“Teams have made a long journey and then they’ve got the crowd on top of them, it’s hard to deal with.”

On making home a fortress:

The winger emphasised the importance of strong home form in achieving success.

“You don’t do good things if your home isn’t a fortress,” he said.

“We’re happy it’s becoming that and we want to keep it going.”

On his Shrewsbury winner:

Amaluzor took pride in scoring what proved to be a key goal earlier in the season.

“That brought a lot of pride,” he said.

“It felt like a weight lifted off everyone’s shoulders and we went on a really good run after that.”

On the squad’s togetherness:

He also highlighted the strong bond within the dressing room.

“My family support me a lot, but so do my teammates,” he said.

“We’re really close and we push each other every day, whether we’re starting or not.”

On Danny Rose’s return:

Amaluzor is looking forward to seeing his former teammate again this weekend.

“He’s one of the best captains I’ve worked with,” he said.

“He’s a genuine guy and I want him to do well, just not tomorrow!”

On Barrow:

Despite their league position, Amaluzor expects a tough test.

“When you’re down there, you’re fighting for your life,” he said.

“They’ll have that fire and we know they’ll give everything.”

On the upcoming break:

With a 13-day gap following Saturday’s game, Amaluzor is determined to stay sharp.

“For me, I’ll just keep working,” he said.

“Whether I’m here or back in London, I’ll keep pushing myself and making sure I’m ready for the final games.”

A player determined, focused, and ready to contribute whenever called upon, Justin Amaluzor continues to play an important role as the Mariners head into a crucial stage of the campaign.
