Amos Pens New Deal

Grimsby Town Football Club is pleased to announce that Danny Amos has signed a new one-year deal.

The 22-year-old joined the Mariners back in January on a short-term deal and went on to make 21 appearances in a black and white shirt.

The attacking left back was schooled in the Doncaster Rovers academy and made 25 appearances for his hometown club prior to signing for Port Vale at the beginning of last season. After a frustrating four-month spell at Vale Park, Amos moved to Blundell Park and was a regular in Town’s defence for the rest of the campaign.

The Northern Ireland Under 21 international spoke to gtfc.co.uk after signing his new deal with the Club.

“I’m delighted to sign a new deal with the Club. Back in January when I came in, I knew I only had six months and I was fully focused on helping the Club get promotion, I wasn’t thinking about contracts at the time. But luckily the Gaffer showed faith in me and I’m now buzzing to put pen-to-paper.”

“It’s been phenomenal to see the number of fans who have bought a season ticket for next season, and I can’t wait to see them all again and get going again. Hopefully we can push on and you never know what could happen.”

Town boss Paul Hurst also shared his thoughts on the left back signing on for the 2022-23 season.

“Danny arrived for the second half of last season and did extremely well. He thought it might have taken him a little bit of time to get up to speed, but, in fairness to him, he was in good shape and fitted in brilliantly with the group. He’s a nice lad with a good character about him. He obviously did very well for us and played his part in helping us achieve promotion.”

“I think there’s more to come from Danny, which we’ve spoken about, and I certainly want to give him the opportunity to show that. He didn’t have the impact he would have liked to have had elsewhere, but he’s made a good start here and he’ll be wanting to continue that next season.”
