Anthony Limbrick Post-Cheltenham Town Press Conference

Grimsby Town interim manager Anthony Limbrick feels his side deserved all three points as they drew 0-0 with Cheltenham Town at Blundell Park.

The Mariners had the better of the chances in the Sky Bet League Two clash with Michael Duff’s side, and came close through shots from Elliott Whitehouse and Matt Green.

But it ended goalless as Town moved up to 18th-place in the league – still with two games in hand on most sides around them.

And Limbrick was disappointed that the Mariners couldn’t quite get all three points from the game.

Speaking on iFollow Mariners, he said: “I thought going into the break 0-0 was unfortunate for us – I thought we got right on the front foot early in the game.

“We created numerous chances, we worked the goalkeeper, and I thought we passed the ball quite well in the first half which was pleasing.

“So for us to come in 0-0 at half time really the better side, I thought that was a little bit harsh on us.

“Second half I felt we probably ran out of steam a little bit because we tried to keep pressing and on the front foot.

“I think that’s probably the first time in a while that we’ve had three games in a week, and I think that probably showed a little bit.

“The boys gave everything – it was 100 per cent commitment from every single player, and everyone came on and had an impact, so I’ve got to be pleased with the performance.

“But unfortunately I think we should be sitting here after the game with three points.”

And Limbrick said he’s enjoying his current role as interim manager at Blundell Park.

He said: “We’d like to get into some good training during that time, and we’ve got the schedule sorted for the rest of this week.

“Who knows what’s going to happen in terms of the situation with myself and where we are? We’ll wait and see.

“I’m really enjoying the role at the moment, trying to help the players as much as I can.

“The players were playing for everyone at the club tonight – for the fans, themselves, and for everyone.”
