Grimsby Town interim manager Anthony Limbrick has revealed that Max Wright and Luke Hendrie could potentially return from injury against Swindon Town on Saturday (3pm).

Wright and Hendrie have been out since October with a thigh and hamstring injury, respectively.

But the pair, who have made 32 appearances between them this season, could potentially be in line to return in this weekend’s Sky Bet League Two clash with Richie Wellens’s side at Blundell Park.

Speaking on iFollow Mariners, Limbrick said: “We obviously didn’t have a game last weekend so we’ve had a nice week-and-a-half since our last fixture, which has allowed a few of the players to come back.

“Luke Hendrie has done a little bit more this week, and he did virtually the full training session today.

“And that’s the same situation with Max Wright – they’re probably both at the same level.

“Both weren’t ready for the reserves game on Tuesday, but they could be in with a shout for the weekend.

“With another day’s training tomorrow, that might give them a little bit more time.

“With both of them, because they’ve been out for so long, we do still need to be careful.

“So one might be ready for the bench for the game, and one might not be.

“I wouldn’t want to commit and say they’re both definitely ready for the game because we want to look after them both because they’re good players, so it will be great when we get them back.”

And Limbrick also confirmed that he’s hoping Town can soon get forward Charles Vernam back from his loan spell at National League side Chorley.

He said: “I’m a big Charles Vernam fan. He’s come back into training when he’s been at Chorley, and looked really sharp and very good.

“We’re looking to bring him back as soon as we can, but we’re not 100 per cent sure on what the date is on that yet.

“But we want to get him back involved because he’s gone away, scored goals, played a good amount of minutes, and you can see he’s confident in training.

“So we’re looking to bring him back as soon as we can, and hopefully that’s soon because I think he can make an impact with this team.”

Limbrick hopes Town can continue their progress and improvement against the Robins this weekend by adding goals to their game.

He said: “We’ve stuck with a structure – we’re clearly playing 4-3-3.

“We’re trying to pass the ball more, be more aggressive and proactive at home, and really trying to get the fans on our side.

“That’s how I like to see the game played and the players have bought into that.

“And I think you can tell – especially from the last two performances against Northampton Town and Cheltenham Town – the amount of chances we’ve created from doing that.

“We definitely need to be more clinical in the final third with that to get the goals that I think the team have deserved.”

Jordan Cook is likely to miss the game with a slight groin injury, while James Hanson is expected to be fit for the match.
