The Mariners are delighted to formally announce the signing of midfielder Betsy Thomas.
The 23-year-old joins her hometown club after successful spells with Lincoln City and Lincoln United, where she gained valuable experience competing in the FA Women’s National League.
Thomas began her footballing journey at Lincoln Women’s Centre of Excellence aged seven, before moving on to the Doncaster Rovers Belles academy at 12 and earning call-ups to Wales Centre of Excellence camps during her youth.
At 16, she joined Lincoln City Women, progressing from their development side into the first team, where she competed at National League level and featured in the FA Cup Fourth Round against Liverpool FC Women. She later made the switch to Lincoln United, helping the side achieve promotion and collecting three County Cup winners’ medals, adding to the one she won earlier with Lincoln City.
Speaking after putting pen to paper, Thomas said: “Being from Grimsby, I’m delighted to join my local club and I’m really looking forward to helping the team in any way I can. I consider myself to be an energetic midfielder who likes to get the ball down and play.”
Ben Thomas said on his new addition, “Betsy is an exciting, versatile player whose quality and experience reflect the positive direction of the club, and we’re delighted to see her representing her hometown team this season.”
Betsy will be sponsored by Dry Ice UK for the remainder of the season.
