Cardwell Signs Contract Extension

Grimsby Town Football Club are pleased to announce that striker, Harry Cardwell has signed a 12-month extension to his current contract, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2020.

The 22-year-old striker joined the club in the summer of 2017, following a successful trial with the club.

After initially finding appearances difficult to come by at the start of his season, Cardwell featured heavily after the arrival of manager, Michael Jolley, helping secure the club’s Football League status. Speaking exclusively to gtfc.co.uk, Cardwell discussed his run of form towards the end of the season and his belief in the manager. “I’m delighted to re-sign again and extend my contract at the club”, said Cardwell.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time here and I hope and believe that the good times will continue. When the gaffer came in, he had a lot of belief in me and played me in a lot of games towards the back end of last season which I was thankful for and I was able to help in making sure we survived”.

Cardwell scored his first League goal for the club this season during our 2-2 draw away at Northampton Town. In 18 months at the club, Harry has made a total of 34 appearances, scoring on two occasions in all competitions.

“We take it on a game-by-game basis”, said Cardwell. “We’ve picked up after a difficult period and we’ve got a young squad which is a positive and hopefully can continue and kick on and see where it takes us!”.

You will be able to catch Harry Cardwell’s exclusive interview with iFollow Mariners later this afternoon.
