We are pleased to announce that Kristian Catchpole has signed his first professional contract with the club.
The talented midfielder has put pen to paper on a two-year deal, with the club holding an option to extend for a further year.
Catchpole joined the Mariners at Under-15 level after previously being part of the Scunthorpe United academy. When Scunthorpe’s programme closed, Town moved quickly to secure his services, fighting off competition from a number of clubs to bring the highly-rated midfielder to Blundell Park.
Originally from Hull, Catchpole has developed into a technically gifted midfielder with a reputation for producing goals and assists, while his energetic performances have made him a standout during his time in the club’s academy.
The youngster has also featured prominently during the Mariners’ pre-season preparations, impressing with his energy and ability in midfield as he looks to make the step into senior football. Catchpole will now continue his development with David Artell’s side.
Speaking after signing his first professional deal, Catchpole said:
“I’m absolutely delighted to have signed my first professional contract with the club. I’ve been here since I was 15 and it means a lot to me and my family to get to this point.
I’ve really enjoyed pre-season and getting the opportunity to play alongside the lads. I’ve learned a lot already and I’m looking forward to continuing to develop and hopefully making a big impact this season.
I want to keep working hard, improving every day and showing what I can do.”
Head Coach David Artell added:
“Kristian is a player who has developed really well since joining us at Under-15 level. He’s a technically gifted midfielder who has a real eye for a goal and an assist. We fought off a lot of competition to bring Kristian to the club and he’s continued to show why we were so keen to sign him.
He’s impressed during pre-season with his energy and quality, and this contract is the next step in his development. We’re looking forward to working with him and helping him fulfil his potential.”
