Club and Mariners Trust Launch Mariner Priority Points Scheme

Grimsby Town Football Club and the Mariners Trust are pleased to announce the introduction of Mariner Priority Points, a new loyalty scheme developed in direct response to supporter feedback.

The scheme has been created following extensive consultation with fans and is designed to provide a fair and sustainable way of allocating tickets for the Club’s most in-demand home and away fixtures.

Following the high demand for tickets for last season’s away fixture at Salford City, the Mariners Trust carried out a comprehensive consultation with supporters to better understand how the existing ticketing framework could be improved.

The overwhelming majority of supporters backed the introduction of a structured loyalty points system that rewards regular attendance at Blundell Park and away from home, while continuing to provide opportunities for new and younger supporters to attend matches.

Working together, the Mariners Trust and Grimsby Town undertook a detailed benchmarking exercise across the EFL, reviewing a range of loyalty schemes, supporter feedback and operational approaches before developing a model tailored specifically for Mariners supporters.

The result is Mariner Priority Points – a scheme that recognises and rewards supporters who consistently back the Club throughout the season.

How Mariner Priority Points Work

From the 2026/27 season, loyalty points will form part of the sales criteria for selected high-demand home and away fixtures, alongside the existing sales phases for Season Ticket Holders, 1878 Members, Mariners Trust and General Sale supporters.

Supporters can earn points through a range of activities across the season, including:

Activity Points
2026/27 Season Ticket 240
2026/27 1878 Membership 10
Home fixture attended (League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, EFL Trophy & Pre-Season) 10
Away fixture ticket allocated (League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, EFL Trophy) 10
Releasing your Season Ticket seat for resale (Per Fixture) 5

Rewarding Loyalty

The scheme has been designed around a number of key principles:

  • Recognise supporters who consistently attend matches and engage with the Club.
  • Ensure ticket allocation is fair and easy to understand.
  • Reward Season Ticket Holders and 1878 Members for their continued commitment.
  • Encourage supporters to release their seat if they cannot attend, helping maximise home attendances.
  • Ensure loyalty points are awarded to the supporter attending the fixture, rather than simply the person purchasing the tickets.

Attendance Matters

Attendance points will only be awarded when a ticket is successfully scanned at the turnstile.

This ensures loyalty points accurately reflect supporters who attend matches throughout the season.

Away fixture points will be awarded to the supporter account that the ticket is allocated to.

Purchasing Tickets for Others

If you purchase tickets for family members or friends through linked accounts, loyalty points will automatically be allocated to the supporter account assigned to each ticket.

Supporters are encouraged to ensure everyone attending matches has their own ticketing account so loyalty points can be correctly recorded.

If you require assistance creating an account, please contact the Ticket Office on 01472 605050 or email tickets@gtfc.co.uk.

Viewing Your Points

Supporters will be able to view their loyalty points balance by logging into their ticketing account and selecting ‘View My Current Details’, where a dedicated Loyalty Points section will be available.

The Club is also exploring further improvements to make loyalty balances even more visible within supporter accounts.

As this is a brand-new initiative, all supporters will begin with a zero balance, with points accruing from 1st July 2026.

Example

A supporter who has:

  • Purchased a 2026/27 Season Ticket
  • Purchased a 2026/27 1878 Membership
  • Attended both home pre-season fixtures
  • Attended the opening home league fixture
  • Purchased a ticket for the opening away league fixture

would accumulate:

Activity Points
Season Ticket 240
1878 Membership 10
Home Pre-Season Fixture 10
Home Pre-Season Fixture 10
Opening Home League Fixture 10
Opening Away League Fixture 10
Total 290

A Scheme That Will Continue to Evolve

Mariner Priority Points has been developed through collaboration between Grimsby Town Football Club and the Mariners Trust, with supporters at the heart of the process.

The Club and the Trust remain committed to reviewing the scheme throughout the 2026/27 season, working closely with supporters to ensure it continues to evolve and deliver a fair ticketing experience for everyone.

Further information on fixture-specific sales criteria will continue to be communicated on a match-by-match basis throughout the season.
