Grimsby Town Football Club can confirm that it faced an FA Regulatory Commission Panel in December 2024 in relation to charges brought under Section E21 of The FA Rules, concerning an alleged failure to control supporter behaviour.
The charge related to an incident of abusive, offensive and discriminatory sectarian chanting by a small number of supporters during the Club’s pre-season away fixture against South Shields FC in July 2024.
Following the hearing, the Regulatory Commission issued the Club with a suspended £2,000 fine and required Grimsby Town FC to implement an Action Plan aimed at preventing and addressing any future incidents of this nature.
As part of this process, an FA Safety & Security Advisor visited the Club in November 2025. During this visit, the Advisor scrutinised the Club’s existing policies, procedures and documentation, discussed the Action Plan in detail with relevant Club officials and staff, and observed the management and operation of a home fixture at Blundell Park. The FA Advisor’s findings and comments have been incorporated into the Action Plan.
Grimsby Town Football Club wishes to place on record that it strongly condemns all forms of abusive, offensive or discriminatory behaviour, including sectarian chanting. Such conduct has no place in football or society and does not reflect the values of the Club, its players, staff or the overwhelming majority of its supporters.
The Club remains fully committed to working proactively with The FA, local authorities, supporter groups and other stakeholders to ensure Blundell Park and all fixtures involving Grimsby Town FC are welcoming, inclusive and safe environments for everyone. Any supporter found to be engaging in behaviour of this nature may face Club sanctions in addition to any action taken by the authorities.
