Following the sudden and tragic passing of Alex Hughes, our Player Recruitment Lead, Grimsby Town Football Club would like to provide supporters with an update regarding scheduled club activities over the coming days.
Out of respect for Alex and to allow staff time to process this devastating news, a number of planned club events have been postponed.
This includes the launch of our 2026/27 Home Shirt, which was due to take place this week. The launch will now take place next week with shirts going on sale from Friday 3rd July. Further details to be communicated in due course.
The Club Shop will remain closed throughout this week. The Ticket Office will continue to operate during usual opening hours.
For supporters wishing to pay their respects to Alex, the Memorial Garden at Blundell Park, located adjacent to the Fan Zone, will be open for anyone who wishes to spend a moment in reflection, lay flowers, or leave a tribute in his memory. We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to the Mariners Trust for their support in helping facilitate this space for supporters.
This is an incredibly difficult time for Alex’s family, friends, colleagues and everyone connected with Grimsby Town Football Club. We continue to ask that their privacy is respected as they come to terms with this heartbreaking loss.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
