Community Open Day on Monday

Our annual Community Open Day takes place on Monday 31st July and ahead of the event, we wanted to provide supporters with an update about the activities taking place on the day.

The free event, which will be our first since 2021 due to the fast turnaround last summer between seasons, will include opportunities to meet our 23/24 squad, watch the first team train on the pitch and see the annual squad photo being taken.

Grimsby Town Sports & Education Trust (GTSET) will have their giant inflatable football dartboard, there will be face painting in the Mariners Trust bar and ‘The Dogs’ – one of our usual matchday food vendors – will also be serving their popular hot dogs throughout the event.

GTSET have also invited 20 local organisations to the event including NAViGO, Harbour Place, Humberside Fire and Rescue and Creative Start CIC to give the event a real community focus. The NEL School Nursing Team will also be running a pop-up Children’s Immunisation Stand in the Mariners Trust Bar where parents can discuss their children’s immunisation status.

Speaking of Monday’s event, GTSET’s CEO Jo Schofield said: “We are excited to be welcoming lots of groups and organisations from the local community along to our Open Day on Monday. It will be a great opportunity for our supporters to find out what they all do and receive important information that might benefit their day-to-day lives – and they will get to see, and potentially meet, the First Team!”

The event will take place between 9:30am and 2pm and we would now like supporters to access Blundell Park via the entrance to the Fanzone. Please note that none of the club car parks will be open to supporters due to number of organisations attending the event.

Paul Hurst’s squad are due to take the field at 10am to meet supporters, sign autographs and pose for selfies ahead of their training session.

After training, there will be another opportunity for fans to meet their heroes before the players break for lunch for an hour before returning for the team photograph.

During the whole event, the Mariners Trust bar will be open for hot and cold refreshments.

We look forward to seeing hundreds of our fans, young and old, at Blundell Park on Monday!
