Ethan Robson Reacts To Signing For Grimsby Town On Loan

On-loan Sunderland midfielder Ethan Robson is looking forward to showing what he can do for Grimsby Town.

The 22-year-old made the loan move to Blundell Park until January 2020 earlier today.

And the midfielder, who scored two goals in 13 Scottish Premiership appearances on loan at Dundee in 2018-19, is excited to show his ability for Town in Sky Bet League Two.

Speaking exclusively on iFollow Mariners, he said: “I’m really excited to be here – I’m really looking forward to the season ahead.

“I picked up a little bit of an injury in pre-season, but I’m back recovered from that now so I’m really hoping to kick on from that.

“Every player wants to hear that the manager is impressed with them, it’s great to hear, and I’m really hoping I can do well for him.

“I can be an attacking-midfielder, and I can be a sitting-midfielder – I think I’ve got both of them in my locker.

“I like to take a free-kick now and then, and hopefully I’ll take a few this season, and hopefully I’ll get some in the top corners.

“So whatever the manager asks of me, I’m pretty confident I can do it.”

And Robson revealed that fellow Sunderland midfielder Elliot Embleton, who was on loan at Town last season, played a part in his loan move to Blundell Park.

He said: “He had nothing but good words to say – he enjoyed his time here.

“He definitely holds Grimsby Town in high regard, and he had good things to say about the club.

“I think it played a part in the move to be fair. Sunderland knew that Embo was here, and he had a good spell here, and I’m hoping to do the same.”
