FA Cup First Round draw to take place on Sunday

The First Round draw for this season’s Emirates FA Cup will take place on Sunday afternoon from 2:30pm live on ITV1 and the Mariners will be ball number 23.

This round comes after two preliminary rounds as well as four further qualifying rounds with clubs from Sky Bet Leagues One and Two entering at this stage.

Over the course of this weekend, non-league clubs will participate in the Fourth Qualifying Round of the tournament to earn the chance to face clubs from the bottom two tiers of the EFL.

The Mariners gained global interest from the football community for last season’s exploits in the competition with records tumbling as Paul Hurst’s team reached the Quarter-Finals of the competition for the first time since 1939.

That run saw his side become the first team to beat higher-division opponents in the first five rounds of the tournament, including becoming giant-killers by beating Premier League side Southampton in the Fifth Round.

Victory at St Mary’s, gained courtesy of two Gavan Holohan penalties, sparked joyous scenes from a sizeable travelling support and earned the Mariners a trip to a Brighton & Hove Albion side on their way to European football.

First Round ties will all take place across the first weekend in November so tune into ITV1 on Sunday afternoon to see who we will face in our first FA Cup match of the season!
