David Artell was appointed Grimsby Town Head Coach in November 2023 and steered the Mariners away from the drop zone in the latter stages of the 2023-24 campaign.

Before taking on the role in Cleethorpes, Artell managed League Two counterparts Crewe Alexandra from January 2017 up until the end of the 2021-22 season, leading them to promotion into League One in 2019-20 when Covid cut the football season shirt.

Artell’s playing career spanned almost 500 games, playing for Morecambe, Mansfield and Crewe who he later took charge of.
