The Mariners produced one of their most complete away performances of the season to secure a superb victory in wet and windy conditions.
Town needed less than a minute to break the deadlock as Evan Khouri swept home after excellent work from Kieran Green and Charles Vernam.
Salford responded with pressure of their own but Christy Pym and the Town defence stood firm throughout an entertaining first half.
Just after the half-hour mark, Vernam doubled the lead with a low strike from the edge of the area which found the bottom corner in front of 1,351 travelling supporters.
From there, the Mariners controlled the contest brilliantly to seal a deserved clean sheet and another impressive away result.

Another fast start helped lay the foundations for a third consecutive away victory for David Artell’s side.
Luca Barrington opened the scoring inside the opening minute with a composed finish after good work from Danny Rose.
Salford hit back through Cole Stockton but Town restored their lead in first-half stoppage time when Barrington’s strike took a heavy deflection and beat the goalkeeper.
The second half saw the hosts apply sustained pressure, although resolute defending and several important saves from Jackson Smith ensured the Mariners held firm to take maximum points back to Lincolnshire.

Town ended 2023 in style by claiming a commanding away victory and their first league win on the road of the campaign.
Harry Clifton gave the Mariners the lead before half-time with a powerful finish after controlling Abo Eisa’s cutback inside the box.
Salford improved after the restart but Grimsby remained clinical and disciplined throughout.
Toby Mullarkey doubled the lead with a composed finish before Danny Rose wrapped up the victory late on with a curling effort into the far corner.
It completed a comfortable evening’s work for the Mariners and ensured the travelling support ended the year celebrating.

The Mariners recovered from an early setback to earn a deserved point in an entertaining contest.
Theo Vassell headed Salford in front inside the opening minutes but Town gradually grew into the game and began to create opportunities of their own.
Their equaliser arrived just before the half-hour mark when Lewis Richardson reacted quickest after a set-piece struck the post to score his first goal for the club.
Both sides had chances to find a winner after the break, with Town going close through Danilo Orsi, but the points were ultimately shared after a hard-fought encounter.

One of the more frustrating visits to Salford came during the 2020/21 campaign, as the Mariners were denied victory late on despite an excellent away display.
Town made the perfect start when Harry Clifton fired home after just two minutes and they continued to create opportunities throughout an impressive first-half performance.
Salford struggled to break Town down for long periods, with James McKeown producing several important saves as the visitors defended resolutely.
But with only two minutes remaining, Ibou Touray found the top corner from the edge of the area to rescue a point for the hosts and deny the Mariners what would have been a deserved victory.
From clinical attacking displays to disciplined defensive performances, Grimsby Town have built up plenty of positive memories at the Peninsula Stadium in recent years.
Now, with another massive encounter on the horizon, the Mariners will be hoping to add another memorable chapter to that story.
