The most recent meeting between the sides produced a six-goal thriller as the Mariners fought back from two goals down to claim a dramatic point in North Yorkshire.

After a goalless first half, Harrogate struck first through Reece Smith shortly before the hour mark. Town responded well and levelled when Charles Vernam converted from close range after good work from Kieran Green.

The hosts regained their advantage almost immediately as Ellis Taylor converted from the penalty spot, before substitute Conor McAleny appeared to put the game beyond the Mariners when he made it 3-1 with 14 minutes remaining.

But Town showed tremendous character in front of a sold-out away following of more than 1,000 supporters. Harvey Rodgers gave the visitors hope with a superb long-range strike before Jaze Kabia calmly slotted home in added time to complete a remarkable comeback and secure a 3-3 draw.

Another meeting in North Yorkshire also ended in dramatic fashion earlier in 2025.

Town looked to be cruising towards victory after producing two moments of real quality before the break. Kieran Green opened the scoring with a spectacular 70-yard lob after spotting the goalkeeper off his line, a goal that immediately became one of the most memorable in recent Mariners history.

Jason Svanthorsson then doubled the lead in stoppage time at the end of the first half with a powerful strike from the edge of the box.

The Mariners remained in control for much of the second half, but Harrogate mounted a late fightback. Ellis Taylor reduced the deficit five minutes from time before Toby Sims headed home from a corner two minutes later to rescue a point for the hosts.

A tightly contested encounter at Blundell Park saw the sides share the points after neither team could find a breakthrough.

The Mariners created the better chances throughout the evening, with Niall Maher going closest in the first half when his header was tipped over the bar by Harrogate goalkeeper Mark Oxley.

John McAtee and Alex Hunt both tested the visiting defence as Town pushed for a winner, while Ryan Taylor almost snatched victory in stoppage time only for Oxley to produce a superb block from close range.

Despite their efforts, the Mariners were unable to force the decisive goal and the game ended goalless.

The visitors started brightly and took the lead through Jack Muldoon, although Town responded quickly when James Tilley cut inside and fired a low shot past the goalkeeper to level the scores.

Muldoon restored Harrogate’s advantage before the break, finishing from close range after a rebound fell kindly for him inside the penalty area.

Despite pushing forward in search of another equaliser during the second half, the Mariners were unable to find a way through as Harrogate held on to secure the victory.
