Grimsby Town 2-0 Crewe Alexandra
On a windy afternoon, the Mariners did the damage in the first half as Harry Davis opened the scoring against his former club before Joe Grayson doubled their advantage.
Crewe looked to get back into the game after the break but came up against an inspired James McKeown, who produced a string of superb saves to ensure he kept a clean sheet to go alongside the three points.
Two changes were made to the Town side after last week’s defeat by Notts County, with Max Wright coming in for his first start and Harry Cardwell returning to the line-up as Martyn Woolford and Ahkeem Rose dropped out.
McKeown started in goal, with Reece Hall-Johnson, Davis, Alex Whitmore and Grayson in defence.
Luke Hendrie took up an advanced position in front of the defence as Charles Vernam, Harry Clifton, Jake Hessenthaler and Wright were the midfielders and Cardwell began in attack.
Woolford was named on the bench alongside Sebastian Ring, Danny Collins, Sam Russell, Rumarn Burrell, Jock Curran and Mattie Pollock.
Crewe came into the game as the form team in League Two, having won their last four games to end the season strongly.
