Freeview | Michael Jolley Pre-Chesterfield Press Conference

Grimsby Town boss Michael Jolley has hailed the importance of the Emirates FA Cup ahead of Sunday’s second round tie with Chesterfield (2pm).

Town travel to the Proact Stadium to face Martin Allen’s side on Sunday, with the aim of reaching the third round for just the second time since 2004.

And Jolley hopes the Mariners can progress as far as possible in the competition.

Speaking on iFollow Mariners, he said: “I think it’s vitally important. For a club like Grimsby Town, the FA Cup is a big deal.

“And I think we’re going to be backed by a really good following of our fans on Sunday.

“And we’re very much looking forward to the game – it’s a very important one for us, and we’ll be trying to win it.”

Martyn Woolford didn’t train today, and will undergo a late fitness test ahead of Sunday’s game.

Akin Famewo, Reece Hall-Johnson, and Elliott Whitehouse remain sidelined with injuries.
