Goals galore again for Grimsby Town Womens as they convincingly beat Newark Town

A sensational attacking display saw Town come from 2–0 down to claim an emphatic 8–3 victory over Newark Town Ladies, with Milly North starring in a performance full of grit, goals, and quality.

FIRST HALF

The visitors started the brighter, racing into a two-goal lead inside 11 minutes with clinical finishes that stunned the home side. But Town responded quickly and in style.

In the 13th minute, Beth Wharton was brought down in the box, and Milly North calmly converted from the penalty spot to get Town on the board. Just four minutes later, North turned provider, sliding a perfect ball into Wharton, who calmly tucked away the equaliser in the 17th minute.

Then came a remarkable turnaround. A near carbon-copy move between North and Wharton saw the latter’s shot just cross the line in the 18th minute, putting Town 3–2 ahead. The first-half comeback was capped off in the 26th, when Demi Barai nodded home from a deep free-kick to make it 4–2.

SECOND HALF

Town picked up where they left off, and the goals kept coming.

After a substitution in the 55th minute, with Leah Wray replacing Chloe Thorpe, Town struck again just before the hour-mark. A brilliant cross from Liv Kershaw was met by Milly North, who rose high to head home and get her second of the day — Town’s fifth.

In the 73rd minute, Barai held off two defenders to set up Eden Pedersen, who hit a thunderous strike that was destined for the back of the net.

The unstoppable Milly North completed her hat-trick in the 78th minute, powering through the Newark defence and rifling in a sensational finish that left the Newark goalkeeper no chance.

Just a minute later, North made it four goals for herself and seven for Town, converting another superb solo run with a composed finish.

North was replaced in the 89th minute, subbed off for Laura Flecknor, before Newark pulled one back in stoppage time for a late consolation.

An unforgettable performance from Milly North, who bagged four goals and two assists, alongside two goals from Beth Wharton, and one each from Demi Barai and Eden Pedersen, saw Town completely turn the tide after an early scare.

Clinical in front of goal and full of creative energy, Town showed their attacking firepower in full force to secure a dominant and entertaining win.
