GREEN IS HERE TO STAY!

Grimsby Town Football Club is delighted to announce that Kieran Green’s contract has been extended by two years, keeping the midfielder at Blundell Park until the summer of 2027.

The 27-year-old joined the Mariners ahead of the 2022-23 campaign from Halifax Town and has gone on to make 84 appearances for the Club, scoring 5 goals.

Green made 40 appearances in his first season in black and white across all competitions, including five appearances in our memorable FA Cup journey that ended in Brighton.

After signing his new deal, the Town midfielder said, “I’m over the moon. I’ve had a few lengthy conversations with the Gaffer and he’s seen something in me and has wanted me to play higher up, more as a number eight and it’s a role I’m trying to embrace and I’m really enjoying it.”

“The conversations I’ve had with the Gaffer and also seeing where the Club want to go, I just look forward to being a part of that for the next few years.

“The Gaffer’s made it really clear from day one what he wants from me, and that makes it easier to go out and practice that on the training pitch every week and hopefully it happens on a Saturday.”

Head Coach David Artell added, “His performances this season warrant a new deal. I think anyone who has seen his progression in the last 12 months will testify that he always wants to improve, and he’s already got a couple of goals and assists which is a good return at this stage in the season.”

The Town number 4 will be in David Artell’s squad for the visit of Wealdstone to Blundell Park tomorrow afternoon.

Congratulations, Greeny!
