Grimsby Town Sports and Education Trust are proud to announce the launch of U13/14 and U15/16 Youth Futsal teams for the 2019-20 season and beyond.
The launch will build on the fantastic success that club has had at U19 level with the Futsal Scholarship Programme.
The squads will represent the club in fixtures, tournaments and the prestigious FA Youth Futsal Cup. Players will receive specialist training on designated ‘training camp’ days and will have the opportunity to pursue futsal further should they show the necessary talent and commitment.
Players may eventually progress to the hugely successful U19 Futsal Scholarship Programme, with progression onto University and futsal at National League level possible. The programme has also seen players gain international recognition with the England U19 team.
The U13/14 and U15/16 squads will operate different programmes, due to the demands of studying for GCSEs on the U15/16 players. All players involved will also be able to continue with their existing futsal and football commitments.
This comes on the back on the successful launch of the GTSET Youth Futsal Leagues, which run out of Franklin College, where the Youth Futsal teams will also be based.

The two new teams will be managed by Sam Vincent, who led Meglio United Futsal U15s to the World Futsal Cup in 2018 achieving a sixth-place finish, supported by club Head of Futsal/England Futsal Talent Centre coach Mark Westerby and Trust Futsal Education Tutor Scott Drury, along with goalkeeper coach Robbie Aldrich.
Head of Futsal and U19 Lead Coach Mark Westerby said: “The development of these youth teams is an important stepping stone for making Grimsby Town Futsal a club.
“It’s great that we can reach out to a younger generation and offer them the opportunity to play futsal in the black and white stripes. We feel Futsal is not only a fun, exciting, fast-paced and inclusive sport in its own right, but also beneficial in a young footballer’s development.”
Players have been selected from local futsal and football teams and have signed an agreement committing them to representing the club in national competitions. Academy players are not eligible.
Tuesday October 15 saw the signing on of 17 new futsal players for the U13/14 side at Blundell Park. These players will go on to represent Grimsby Town FC Futsal U14s this season. Photos of the players signing on can be seen above.
